ALL ABOUT MASKS
Looking at my mask collection right now, I struggle to believe that no less than one year ago, I hated masks, or at least I couldn’t help but define them as somewhat frivolous. It was my own fault, once again I had forgotten that, when it comes to skincare, frequency and fidelity is key. Using them more than once every two weeks doesn’t mean that the skin get used to them, but rather than it doesn’t have the time to forget them and, one to two months later, the impact on the skin is one which none other skincare products can excel when it comes to clear, fresh looking skin.
SHEET MASKS’ ROLE MODEL
With a suppler, more comfortable and radiant skin within one, unique use, the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask is the exception which proves the rule. With 4 sheet masks in one box, this efficiency is more than welcomed and decides on the way I judge other sheet masks, something which might explain my struggle to love, even like, other ones.
Purifying without saying goodbye to the gentleness, the Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask is a slightly thick, slightly thin consistency with some harmless -actually quite superficial- exfoliating beads mix into it. A miracle when used frequently on blackheads, skin texture and even sometimes breakouts, it never compromises on the skin’s hydration level. Quite the contrary, this Omorovicza’s miracle even tackles dry patches!
Dehydrating or not, all purifying masks ask for a little bit of comfort to follow their well appreciated clearing action. With the thin, creamy yet clearing consistency of Galaxy Pack and the fresh dose of hydration and vitality of Moon Mask, Glossier has created the perfect duo: 20 minutes with the first one on, a thoughtful rinse, a few minutes to let the skin breathe, another 20 minutes with the second one, a quick rinse and it is almost as if I did a facial -not a feeling I am familiar with, though-.
Often described and reviewed as a cleanser -including me-, many people ignore that the Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser can be applied on the skin for more than a few seconds, as a mask or my favourite way of using it. This mask is the one I reach for when I know something is off with my skin, but I cannot quite point the finger at the reason why. The Glow Mud Cleanser exfoliates, purifies, but also, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, respects the skin. When it comes to frequent use on the other hand, it is by far the mask which has the most positive impact on skin texture!
It is a quick fix for unexpected breakouts, but also a great, long-term pick when skin texture is an issue, the Sephora Mud Purifying & Mattifying Mask is a lovely skincare discovery. If its thick texture means that applying it evenly on the skin takes more time than usual, I also happen to think that it is responsible for its deep cleansing actions on the skin.
FRESH MORNING SKIN’S GUARANTEE
If La Roche-Posay advises 10 minutes of use, it is as an overnight mask that I prefer to use their Hydraphase Intense Mask: it is how it truly helps the skin renew itself and come back to its strongest self when particularly fragile or dehydrated. Not just perfectly rested and fresh, the skin is also a lot plumper the next morning.
