BEAUTY HAUL: ONE WEEK LATER -5- TRYING OUT SOME LIP PENCILS

Having recently felt quite uninspired with my makeup -as my blog has been reflecting it, taking care of my skin is what I currently enjoy the most- these three Huda Beauty Lip Contours have definitely been helping me to get back on the makeup bandwagon. Putting lip pencils on is a long, time-consuming process which requires some concentration and delicacy, yet it’s also a lovely gesture which feels very ladylike.

From top to bottom: Trendsetter; Icon; Cheerleader

Whilst my experience with lip pencils is very limited -I’ve only owned one Rimmel lip liner before- I do think that the Huda Beauty Lip Contours have a gorgeous formula: it combines a matte finish -once it settles- with a lightweight and creamy consistency which is comfortable to wear -as usual, a little bit drying at the end of the day- and doesn’t highlight the fine lines of the lips. It offers the longevity of a traditional matte lipstick and, if it ever happens to fade away, it never looks ugly: it’s more an even, muted down version of the original colour.

I wear the Huda Beauty Lip Contours on their own to forget they even here or I apply my Dior Addict Lip Glow on top of them to add a little bit more drama, it works with all the shades:

Icon is definitely my favourite as it is extremely flattering on my fair skin, without the help of a bronzer or blusher! I wish I could say the same about Trendsetter: as much as I loved it with a heavier makeup, it wasn’t as complimentary paired down with a natural, everyday makeup. It’s still a lovely neutral shade though! Cheerleader is such a unique red shade, it can look scary yet it definitely works! This brick red completely lightens up my face and eyes! I love it and, even though it is a bright red, I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of it.

  • I can imagine Trendsetter being hard to wear on it´s own. These nude-ish colors can be tricky.

    • Yes they definitely can! I love this shade, but it certainly isn’t the kind of shade you can wear everyday without even thinking about it!

  • Icon and Cheerleader are stunning but I get what you mean with Trendsetter, I have a hard time pulling nude shades too. I don’t really use a lip liner so I can’t see myself buying high end ones. So far I’m happy with my NYX, Rimmel and Avon lip liners.

    • Oh, I need to try some NYX ones as well, I’ve heard so many great things about them!

  • Trendsetter would probably be a little too brown for my taste but I love the other two! xx

    • It is quite brown indeed, it’s somewhere in between Velvet Teddy and Twig (Mac) if you are familiar with those 🙂

  • Rosy Flynn

I’ve had my eye on these lip pencils, people seem to really love them 🙂

    • Yes, it truly is a beautiful formula, it is easy to apply as it is creamy yet once it sets, it becomes very long-lasting so I feel like it’s the perfect compromise between something drying and something too creamy and therefore not very long-lasting!

  • I really want to try these! Trendsetter was actually the shade I had my eye on

    • It still is a beautiful shade yet, because I’m quite pale, I have to put a little bit more makeup than usual on my cheeks!

  • These all sound lovely! I had never heard of Huda before – thank you for introducing me 😀 your blog is darling and you write perfect English! xx

    • Oh thank you 🙂 Huda Beauty is a rather new brand, I believe the brand was created 2 to 3 years ago and it became available in Europe 2 to 3 months ago!

Icon is my favourite too, I love shades like this and I have been wearing a lot like these on my lips these days! x

    • Couldn’t agree more, it’s particularly appropriate for this time of year (even though I tend to wear this kind of shades all year round), it’s just a good transition shade before going deeply into burgundy, darker shades!

  • I’ve been wanting to try these lip contours for a while now along with her liquid lipsticks!

    • I highly recommend them 🙂 I’m not a huge liquid lipstick girl yet, since I enjoy the lip contours, I might try them as well!

  • Absolutely loving these colours! x

  • Cheerleader looks super pretty! And the formula sounds very nice, too. I personally love wearing lip pencils on their own from time to time!
