Having recently discovered lip palettes and lip brushes, two things I thought I would never use, I was feeling adventurous and decided to try some lip pencils, right at the time when Huda Beauty was making an entrance into the European beauty market. I thus picked up a few shades of their Lip Contours: Trendsetter, Icon and Cheerleader.

From top to bottom: Trendsetter; Icon; Cheerleader

The Lip Contour’s formulation, often described as extremely creamy during the application yet long-lasting once it has settled on the lips, sounds particularly dreamy. I’m expecting a great lasting power without the drying, uncomfortable effect that I associate with liquid lipsticks. I’m also hoping I can wear them on their own for a lightweight, more subtle finish on the lips. Fuller, more defined lips aren’t really on my mind as my lips are already well-defined and, even though they are quite thin, I like them just the way they are!

Overall, I really like the Lip Contour’s shade range which isn’t very wide, but it still fulfills all the expectations with some light and deep neutrals, a couple of bold colours and, finally, a deeper shade. Trendsetter is, at first sight, a trendy brown with a hint of peach in it while Icon is a deep old pink shade, both of these are the kind of shades I wear the most, no matter what season it is. Finally, I should particularly enjoy Cheerleader, this brick red which sits right in between a bright and a deep red colour, feels very autumnal to me!

-As always, I would share my first impressions about the lip pencils in a week’s time-

  • Oh I don’t think I ever heard of this brand! The colors are beautiful 🙂

  • Yiotou_La

I am so glad you have provided us with swatches, it is really important to see how these perform 🙂

  • I’m a complete convert to lip liners. I used not to care much for them, but now I can’t apply lipstick without using a pencil as well!

  • So many have raved about these lip liners so I look forward to your first impressions! I am still trying to get into discipline of using a lip liner but usually I tend to get lazy and skip it.

  • I have Bombshell & Gossip Gurl and really love how soft they are and also the pigmentation. I love the colours you have here! xx

    • Glad to see you enjoy them, I hesitated a long time between trendsetter and Bombshell!

  • All three shades are beautiful! I’ve stayed away from them because I already like similarly priced lip pencils. But I am looking forward to your first impressions 🙂

    • Thank you for commenting 🙂 What other brands of lip pencils do you have? I really want to try some Mac ones but I’m not sure if I will love them!

      • Personally I find MAC and Nyx lip liners a bit too hard, but I seem to be in the minority since many people like them! My favorites are by jordana, urban decay, marc jacobs, and nars 🙂

  • Lip pencils are a thing I started using as I got older. Once the fine lines make an appearance, they do become a necessity. Haven’t tried these, but I am curious to see what you think. So far I stick to MAC ones mostly, with a few others thrown in for good measure, but I don’t really have a favorite brand.

  • I really need to try these!
