KIEHL’S ULTRA FACIAL CREAM & SKINCARE PREFERENCES

Like a wardrobe, skincare isn’t all about necessity, it also has to match the customers’ tastes and preferences. Listening to these tastes is the key to a skincare routine which never sounds daunting or off-putting, even after too many drinks in the evening. I listen to mine and apart for an unconditional love for beautiful consistencies, I also like to end my routine on a simple note. And in this quest, I stumble across the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.

Known and renowned as the simple moisturizer which still does it all and suits all skin types -well, never true of any skincare, but most skins I would say-, I am surprised I haven’t tried the Ultra Facial Cream sooner, especially since its consistency is amongst my favourites. Refreshing and cooling, creamy but not overly greasy or heavy, it is one of those moisturizers which resemble crème fraîche or yogurt, with a little bit more body to it, though. Along with the mild scent, nothing about it is too difficult to handle, quite the contrary: after a smooth application, it penetrates the skin within minutes, but doesn’t leave it bare or completely naked either…

…More on the hydrating side of things than the nourishing one, the ingredients are all about locking the moisture inside the skin, softening it, and, to a certain extent, perfecting it: the skin isn’t thickly coated, but it houses all the benefits and radiates from within. Despite the promise of 24 hours of hydration -I never believe those- I use it morning and night: versatile, it works really well underneath makeup -Kiehl’s has just released an SPF version of it-, whilst offering enough hydration to efficiently help the skin during the night. Avoiding anything too fancy or complicated, the packaging perfectly matches the formula which is held inside it: men or women, morning or night, anybody could use it at any time and benefit from it, in all simplicity.

  • I have a fun story to share about this cream! A few months ago I was in Belgium and I decided to go and buy this cream on the local Kiehl’s store. I couldn’t see that cream on the shelves and I was pretty shy because the shop was really small and there were 2 people looking at me because I was the only customer there. Okay. So I decided not to ask for this cream and I saw a shiny orange newly released one. 30 ml “yeah maybe I’ll buy this one, it would be 30€ I’d say”. I grab it and went to pay. 65€ FLIPPING EUROS. And I don’t even love it.
Conclusion: I should have asked for this one instead ahaha

    • I love your comment and I can definitely relate to it! I don’t know why I get so intimidated in stores, but I do and I never dare to say that I know a little bit about skincare! I don’t know the one you purchased, but I believe you will love this one indeed 🙂

  • I found this wasn’t rich enough for my Sahara-like skin unfortunately! xx

    • I’m glad you said that, because it confirms my point about it not being suitable for all skin types after all, I believe very dry or very oily wouldn’t work as it isn’t really nourishing and, on the other hand, it is still a little bit too creamy for an extremely oily skin!

  • I haven’t tried much from Kiehls and I don’t think this one would be for me. But I like the description of its consistency, yoghurt sounds nice.

    • Neither do I! Just a couple of body products, and my beloved Creamy Eye Treatment! Yes, I like it when a cream is refreshing on the skin, it reminds me of a TV ad we used to have in France where the yogurts were so natural that the lady was applying it on her face!

  • I’m a big fan of Kiehl’s they do such amazing products and am rarely disappointed x
