LA ROCHE-POSAY TOLERIANE ULTRA, GETTING BACK TO BASICS
Trying something new from a brand I already know and love is my very favourite thing, especially when it’s all about skincare. In that case, my skin tends to work by brands, or more so by the thoughts and values behind them. La Roche-Posay is amongst my skin’s favourites, and if I had relied or still rely on their Effaclar, Lipikar, Cicaplast or Hydraphase ranges, I’m not really familiar with the Toleriane one. The Toleriane Ultra Intense Soothing Care has rectified this issue.
It was an easy one to pick, my skin was rather weak and just didn’t feel or look its best. And whenever it happens, I go back to what La Roche-Posay does best: basics -more of that on the blog later-. Just as my beloved Solution 10 de Chanel, the Toleriane Ultra doesn’t misjudge the sensitive skin: creamy but not overly heavy, it doesn’t have the thick, greasy consistency of most sensitive creams, it penetrates the skin rather easily, yet it still leaves a protective coat on top of it. In fact, I can still feel it on my skin the next morning, more in a soothing way than a disgusting way, though.
Yet the Toleriane Ultra works in both the morning and the evening, on the face but also on the eye contours -and even on my lips-. It is a simple cream: without any fuss, it soothes and nourishes the skin at the same time. If it offers comfort within the first use, it also keeps getting better at keeping my sensitivity at bay throughout the days and weeks. From such simplicity, without any fancy claims or fancy scent, it manages to do so much more than most moisturizers: my skin isn’t confused anymore, it is back to normal, perhaps even healthier and more radiant than usual.
