It is usually very difficult for me to explain why I love a cleanser. If I love all the possibilities they offer for lovely, smooth and silky consistencies, they cannot really offer much to the skin in terms of benefits: they just have to remove the last traces of makeup without irritating it. The Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser -with 5% Glycolic Acid & Aloe Vera-, on the other hand, claims a little bit more than just that.ย As a deep purifying cleanser, it seems to combine the cleansing action of a makeup remover, the purifying claim of a clay mask, and finally, the exfoliation benefit of an acid toner.

Judging the book by its cover, I was expecting a very muddy consistency, instead, I’ve found something a lot less messy and a lot more sophisticated than mud. At first, the Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser is quite thick, firm and bouncy, but once massaged into the skin -and blended with water- it becomes lighter, smoother and silkier whilst releasing a light, fresh lemon scent into the bathroom. As tingly as a mask, it definitely is and feels very active on the skin: sunscreen is required after using it and it definitely tints my sensitive skin with the peculiar healthy red shade I usually associate with exfoliating toners. At the same time, however, it also mimics the fresh, brand-new looking skin we all have after a good mask.

Within a few seconds, it completes the work of 3 different skincare items and lives up to all its claims. A little bit too much for my skin to use daily anyway, I love the idea of a little treat; a second cleanse-because of the acid, it cannot be used on the eye area- ย which I use once or twice a week to feel pampered, or simply something to reach for when my skin is a little bit too weak to handle a deep cleansing mask and/or an acid toner and prefers the gentle side of a cleanser.

  • I have wanted to try this cleanser for the longest time but get scared thinking my skin might not like it. Great post xx

    • I personally believe it would work on most skin types, Pixi says ‘all’ of them ๐Ÿ™‚ You’re welcome!

  • I am testing a different one right now by Nip & Fab, and the pixi one is still a firm favorite. It is pretty unique in what it offers, at least at this price range.

    • Oh is it the one from your favourite video? Yes, it is true!

      • Yes, it is. I have used it for around three weeks, so it has two more to wow ne, but I don’t think this is going to happen.

  • They just sent me this. I have dry, sensitive skin so I will be cautious. But it sounds really nice.

    • Yes, I highly recommend so: I know Pixi advises to use it daily, AM and PM, but my sensitive skin certainly can’t handle it, one or twice a week (at least to begin with) sounds a lot more cautious to me!

  • I must buy this to use maybe once weekly xx

    • Yes, once or twice a week is more than enough for me, and if your skin is sensitive or dry (which I believe it is), it will be for you too!

  • The sounds like a great cleanser for pampering and I can imagine it offers a deep cleanse which we all need once in a while x

  • Yes, I am so in love with this product! I am so glad it works well for you too, thanks for sharing xxx

  • As you said, maybe it’s too heavy for an everyday use but it’s perfect when you’re skin is not super good! I’m more and more interested in Pixi, it’s bringing out only nice skincare products apparently ๐Ÿ™‚

    • So do I, so far I love everything I’ve tried so far (from both their makeup and skincare range) and there is still a lot I want to try because of all the raving reviews on the internet!

  • This sounds so good!! Think I need to try it out ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’m pretty sure you’ll love it, just because every skin type can benefit from it!

  • I’ve just started using this and I love it! I’ve been using it everyday and my skin looks so more radiant and glowy xx

    • You’re so lucky to able to use it every day! I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who enjoys it!

  • Isabelle Collins

I received this the other day and I’m yet to try it so reading this was helpful! xx

    • Oh, you’ll love it! I’m glad I can help! Thank you for commenting ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I only just tried my first Pixi product recently… they are quite nice, especially in terms of skincare… I definitely want to try more!

    • Yes, they are, I love the makeup as well, but I believe the skincare is very unique in terms of value for money! Thank you for reading ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Do you think this will be too much for dry, mature skin? I am so tempted to get this!

    • Pixi recommends it to every skin type, but I would recommend to use it as sparingly as I do with my sensitive skin, at least to begin with!

  • I used up an entire tube of this last year, and I really enjoyed it! I felt that it was a little too much for daily use, so I was using it every other day. It is such a great multi-purpose cleanser. Definitely one I recommend, and so affordable! xx

    • You’re right, it is so versatile and affordable at the same time! I’m very glad to hear you enjoyed it as well! Thank you for commenting ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Yiotou_La

This would be perfect for me on when my skin needs special treatment or on pamper days, I wish it was easier to find Pixi products but it’s not and I want to try so many products.

    • Yes, it’s quite easy on the internet, but really difficult if you want to try the consistencies and swatch the products on your hands before purchasing them!

  • I’ve been using it everyday this week and I really like it xx

  • My skin is so prone to break outs that I’ll avoid it if it’s too much and stick to what I have already. I haven’t tried many Pixi products, so don’t know how they’d work for me. Thanks for the review x

    • You’re welcome ๐Ÿ™‚ I believe Pixi is quite respectful of the skin in general, but it is true that you will have to be very careful with this cleanser if you are prone to breakouts!
