PIXI GLOW MUD CLEANSER, A PAMPERING ROUTINE IN ONE CLEANSE
It is usually very difficult for me to explain why I love a cleanser. If I love all the possibilities they offer for lovely, smooth and silky consistencies, they cannot really offer much to the skin in terms of benefits: they just have to remove the last traces of makeup without irritating it. The Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser -with 5% Glycolic Acid & Aloe Vera-, on the other hand, claims a little bit more than just that. As a deep purifying cleanser, it seems to combine the cleansing action of a makeup remover, the purifying claim of a clay mask, and finally, the exfoliation benefit of an acid toner.
Judging the book by its cover, I was expecting a very muddy consistency, instead, I’ve found something a lot less messy and a lot more sophisticated than mud. At first, the Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser is quite thick, firm and bouncy, but once massaged into the skin -and blended with water- it becomes lighter, smoother and silkier whilst releasing a light, fresh lemon scent into the bathroom. As tingly as a mask, it definitely is and feels very active on the skin: sunscreen is required after using it and it definitely tints my sensitive skin with the peculiar healthy red shade I usually associate with exfoliating toners. At the same time, however, it also mimics the fresh, brand-new looking skin we all have after a good mask.
Within a few seconds, it completes the work of 3 different skincare items and lives up to all its claims. A little bit too much for my skin to use daily anyway, I love the idea of a little treat; a second cleanse-because of the acid, it cannot be used on the eye area- which I use once or twice a week to feel pampered, or simply something to reach for when my skin is a little bit too weak to handle a deep cleansing mask and/or an acid toner and prefers the gentle side of a cleanser.
