For the first time in what feels like forever, the current lip releases aren’t all about liquid lipstick anymore. It started with the high end offering and now the drugstore also confirms the comeback of the lipstick in stick! Case in point, the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolors claim nothing more than a lightweight, hydrating consistency and an intense, vibrant pigmentation.

In order of appearance: 700 Sand, 705 Dawn, 710 Desert

As soon as I swatched the Gel Lipcolors on the wrinkly part of my hand, I knew I would leave Boots with them: they glide seamlessly and leave nothing else than a smooth, shiny pigment on the skin. Once on the lips, they build a very thin yet very even layer of pigment which almost resembles a lip gloss, but a non-sticky one. It offers a very plump, full look to the lips whilst still defining them thanks to a formula which is a lot more pigmented, but equally as long-wearing as the traditional hydrating lipstick.

The amount of what I like to call modern nudes -nudes which aren’t too light or beige- is also what made me fell for the Gel Lipcolors. Revlon also proposes a lot of red and orange shades, but the neutral tones seem more appropriate for a formula whose longevity isn’t the most impressive one I’ve ever tried. As close as I can get to traditional, light nude, 700 Sand is a beautiful beige with a little bit of peach and brown undertones in it. 705 Dawn is definitely more on the rosy side of things, but it still has enough brown in it to feel as wearable and easy-going as any other neutral lipstick! It also has the tiniest gold shimmers in it, nothing too intense or dated, just an extra amount of shine on top of the lips. Finally, 710 Desert is the darker version of Sand: it’s a peachy shade which stays away from anything too bold or too dull, a perfect pick for the current sunny days!

  • The colors you got look really pretty, especially Dawn! I like the tube they come in too.

    • Yes, I forgot to comment it but the packaging is really nice, really practical but also quite sleek! Thank you for reading 🙂

All these colours look so pretty!

    • Don’t they? I’m glad you agree, and they are so flattering once on the lips as well!

  • Revlon did come back to Germany in June, right in time it seems. They look very pretty.

    • Oh, I’m glad to hear that! I was really impressed by all their new releases and Revlon is one of those brands which rarely disappoint me!

      • I haven’t tried much from them, but I am looking forward to exploring more in the future.

  • I would wear all 3 shades! I’ll have to check them out when I’m in Boots! xx

    • It’s a great thing that you like all 3 shades because Boots is currently doing their 3 for 2 deal on them, I’m just saying …

  • These shades look so lovely! I nearly picked up a brighter coloured one the other month but changed my mind. Need to head back! Xx

    • I was really tempted by the bright ones as well, but I just thought I wouldn’t get as much wear of them as I will with the neutral ones!

  • Katie

The shades look really pretty! They seem similar to the Colourpop Lippie Stix but with prettier packaging x

    Beauty From Katie

    • They are actually very similar to the Sheer Lippie Stix, just a little bit more pigmented and hydrating on the lips! I didn’t think about the packagings, but you’re right! There is also more product in the Revlon ones because the bullets are bigger! Thank you for commenting 🙂

  • The last time I bought anything from Revlon was a year or two ago and haven’t revisited the brand since. I have seen these sold in stores and good to know that you like them, I’ll try one the next time they go on sale.

    • Let me know if you end up trying them! I very rarely purchase Revlon’s products these days, but now that I’ve found these, I will definitely check out the brand more often!!

  • I haven’t seen these before but quite honestly I haven’t paid much attention to Revlon of late. I would have love to see swatches but I’ll check these out next time as they do look pretty.

    • Yes, I tend to forget Revlon as well, not sure why because I genuinely love their products! Sorry, it’s hard for me to lip swatches because I take all my photos with my iPhone and the quality isn’t the best, but the swatches on the paper are really faithful to the shades! Thank you for commenting 🙂

  • Lovely review, definitely going to have to check these out! Thanks for sharing ♡

    Shannon ♡ Inasense Beauty

    • You’re very welcome 🙂 Let me know if you do, they are my current most worn lipsticks, they’re just very easy to wear!

  • These sound really easy to wear and I love a nude! Great post, thank you for sharing xxx

    ALittleKiran | Bloglovin

    • That’s exactly what they are, hence why I’ve only chosen nude shades! Nudes always work, don’t they? Thank you and you’re welcome 🙂

  • I saw these the other day and was SO tempted to put one in my basket. I think I might have to go back now as they’re gorgeous!

  • I”m obsessed with these! They smell fantastic too!!

    • Yes, they do (oops, I forgot to say it in the post)! I’m very glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s obsessed with them, thank you for commenting 🙂

  • I love the idea of “modern nudes.” Personally I am much more likely to wear a pinky nude, than a straight up nude. They sound like they’re really comfortable to wear!

    Mili | Sharmtoaster

    • They are! Yes, I think the very pale, beige nude is currently dying and I for one am very happy about that 🙂

  • Violette

These colors look great! I had to try it!
