REVLON ULTRA HD GEL LIPCOLOR: 3 PRETTY SHADES
For the first time in what feels like forever, the current lip releases aren’t all about liquid lipstick anymore. It started with the high end offering and now the drugstore also confirms the comeback of the lipstick in stick! Case in point, the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolors claim nothing more than a lightweight, hydrating consistency and an intense, vibrant pigmentation.
In order of appearance: 700 Sand, 705 Dawn, 710 Desert
As soon as I swatched the Gel Lipcolors on the wrinkly part of my hand, I knew I would leave Boots with them: they glide seamlessly and leave nothing else than a smooth, shiny pigment on the skin. Once on the lips, they build a very thin yet very even layer of pigment which almost resembles a lip gloss, but a non-sticky one. It offers a very plump, full look to the lips whilst still defining them thanks to a formula which is a lot more pigmented, but equally as long-wearing as the traditional hydrating lipstick.
The amount of what I like to call modern nudes -nudes which aren’t too light or beige- is also what made me fell for the Gel Lipcolors. Revlon also proposes a lot of red and orange shades, but the neutral tones seem more appropriate for a formula whose longevity isn’t the most impressive one I’ve ever tried. As close as I can get to traditional, light nude, 700 Sand is a beautiful beige with a little bit of peach and brown undertones in it. 705 Dawn is definitely more on the rosy side of things, but it still has enough brown in it to feel as wearable and easy-going as any other neutral lipstick! It also has the tiniest gold shimmers in it, nothing too intense or dated, just an extra amount of shine on top of the lips. Finally, 710 Desert is the darker version of Sand: it’s a peachy shade which stays away from anything too bold or too dull, a perfect pick for the current sunny days!
