STICKING TO THE PILLOW, THE SKINCARE
I am slowly falling asleep, head resting on my pillow, and the little ‘sticky’ feeling reminds me that I have done something great for my skin this evening, not just the usual skincare routine, but something extra comforting and extra nourishing, a little something which promises a better skin the next morning… or the reason why I personally love the sensation which most people seems to dislike. Not quite sure why I am presenting this little selection then, except that ‘sticky’ skincare often means better used rest for the skin….
Is an overnight mask even working if it doesn’t have that recognizable ‘sticky’ feeling? To me, it is the guarantee that the mask will hold on to the skin and its properties stay active all night long. The strangest thing is, both the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Masque and Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask aren’t even advertised as overnight masks, but leaving them through the night means that their promises of fresh, highly hydrated and deeply nourished skin aren’t just respected, but rather exceeded.
While masks act as a great once-a-week boost, rich night creams are the perfect end of any winter skincare routine -at least mine-. Depending on how dry the skin is, the Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream and Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté -48Hr Moisturising Rich Cream- will take a little more time than usual to penetrate the skin, but again, it is all in favour of better nourishing properties and a skin which is extremely grateful for them the very next morning.
JUST THE EYES
When the eyes feel uncomfortable, or simply tired, the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is my easy pick, and by far the most pleasant one of this selection. Although very rich and creamy, I can feel its cooling and comforting properties every time I open and close my eyes when falling asleep and waking up a few hours later, but with some perfectly rested and hydrated under eyes this time.
