I am slowly falling asleep, head resting on my pillow, and the little ‘sticky’ feeling reminds me that I have done something great for my skin this evening, not just the usual skincare routine, but something extra comforting and extra nourishing, a little something which promises a better skin the next morning… or the reason why I personally love the sensation which most people seems to dislike. Not quite sure why I am presenting this little selection then, except that ‘sticky’ skincare often means better used rest for the skin….

Is an overnight mask even working if it doesn’t have that recognizable ‘sticky’ feeling? To me, it is the guarantee that the mask will hold on to the skin and its properties stay active all night long. The strangest thing is, both the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Masque and Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask aren’t even advertised as overnight masks, but leaving them through the night means that their promises of fresh, highly hydrated and deeply nourished skin aren’t just respected, but rather exceeded.

While masks act as a great once-a-week boost, rich night creams are the perfect end of any winter skincare routine -at least mine-. Depending on how dry the skin is, the Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Cream and Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté -48Hr Moisturising Rich Cream- will take a little more time than usual to penetrate the skin, but again, it is all in favour of better nourishing properties and a skin which is extremely grateful for them the very next morning.

When the eyes feel uncomfortable, or simply tired, the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado is my easy pick, and by far the most pleasant one of this selection. Although very rich and creamy, I can feel its cooling and comforting properties every time I open and close my eyes when falling asleep and waking up a few hours later, but with some perfectly rested and hydrated under eyes this time.

  • I want to buy that Kiehl’s eye cream this year! I must admit that I’m not a fan of the sticky feeling! xx

    • I haven’t tried a lot, but I believe this is my favourite eye cream so far! Yes, I know, very few people seem to like it!

  • I was informed by Mili that the Dr. Jart cream is being updated not sure if packaging or formulation hence it has been out fo stock for months! I hope to purchase it when it’s back in stock.

I love the Kiehl’s creamy eye treatment, it feels so good under the eyes! I’ll need to try some overnight masks though, as I have never tried any before!x

    • Oh, let me know if you do, my skin relies so much on overnight masks, and they always put me in a good mood, as it gives me the impression that I’ve just got a facial during my sleep, which is the best feeling ever! Thank you for reading 🙂

  • I love sticky skincare for overnight too. Sometimes I get annoyed when I feel my sticky cheek touch my pillow because I fear the goodness of the products is being wiped off lol! xxx

    • That is what I use to think as well, but thankfully, it also means that the product is sticking to your skin 🙂

  • Yes, it has to be sticky to convince me it works. But I apply it usually at least one hour before my bed time to let as much as possible sink in before my head hits the pillow.

  • I also prefer the formula to be a little sticky haha, or else I end up doubting it’s getting to work properly overnight haha. Your mention of Glossier’s Moisturising Moon Mask has also caught my interest!

    • Couldn’t agree more with you! It’s a fab mask, overnight or not, it always leaves my skin feeling super soft, fresh and hydrated!

  • I love the Nuxe Creme Fraiche! Ceramidin has been on my wish list for ages too 🙂

    • If you like the Nuxe Crème Fraîche, I believe you will love the Ceramidin one as well, they belong to the same simple but quite rich moisturizer category!

  • I wish I could do overnight masks but I can’t seem to sleep on my back and normally faceplant, so … I don’t think I can use these. SIGH.

    • Ah ah, I know this struggle, I used to be the same! Thank you for reading 🙂

  • I always find a good night time skin care routine helps in keeping my skin looking refreshed the following morning. Especially with oils and the like x
